Nigeria and Qatar Charity established a comprehensive partnership framework to enhance humanitarian interventions and development initiatives across vulnerable communities nationwide.
The agreement signed in Doha creates legal foundations for Qatar Charity’s expanded operations in Nigeria, supporting projects in health, education, technology, water supply, and institutional capacity building.
Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Senator Abubakar Bagudu represented the Federal Government, while Qatar Charity’s Chief Global Operations Officer Nawaf Abdullah Al-Hammadi signed for the organization.
“We greatly value this leading and effective role, which has left a significant mark on the lives of thousands of Nigerian families,” Bagudu stated after the signing ceremony.
The partnership extends Qatar Charity’s support across critical sectors including information technology advancement, water supply systems, and local social network empowerment. Activities will coordinate with Nigerian government agencies to ensure alignment with national development priorities.
Qatar Charity operates as one of the world’s largest humanitarian and development organizations, spanning conflict and disaster-affected areas globally. The organization focuses on poverty reduction through social welfare, sanitation, education, nutrition, and economic empowerment programs.
“In the coming years, we aim to implement impactful and high-quality projects that make a real difference in people’s lives,” Al-Hammadi emphasized during the ceremony.
The new agreement builds upon a previous three-year cooperation framework signed in 2022, which concluded this year. The updated partnership broadens intervention scope and strengthens operational capacity across Nigeria.
Qatar Charity’s work encompasses life-saving assistance in emergency situations and long-term development programs targeting sustainable poverty reduction. The organization’s comprehensive approach addresses immediate needs while building long-term resilience.
The partnership reflects strengthening ties between Nigeria and Qatar, opening new opportunities for collaboration addressing shared humanitarian and development goals. Both parties demonstrate commitment to deepening cooperation and promoting sustainable development across Nigerian communities.
Essential facilities guaranteed for Qatar Charity’s Nigerian office will support efficient project rollout and stakeholder coordination. The agreement ensures continued operation as an international organization with appropriate legal protections and operational flexibility.
