The government of Ghana has fully paid off all debts owed on the Ofankor–Nsawam road project. Roads Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza said over $77 million has been paid to the contractor. He confirmed that no money is owed and all pending certificates have been settled. This follows delays caused by unpaid bills before the current administration took office.
With the debt cleared, the minister expects construction to move faster. President Mahama visited the site and urged the contractor to speed up the work. He warned that further delays would not be accepted. The project is now under the Big Push programme, with GH¢14 billion allocated this year and more expected in 2026.
