Togo’s Finance Minister Georges Barcola held key meetings with IMF and World Bank officials during the Annual Meetings in Washington. Talks centered on Togo’s ongoing economic reforms and the support needed for their success.
Since March 2024, Togo has been under a 42-month IMF program worth about $400 million. The program aims to boost fiscal stability, inclusive growth, and economic resilience. Minister Barcola outlined Togo’s priorities, including debt control and better public spending. He also emphasized improving domestic revenue and supporting private sector growth.
So far, Togo has received around $129 million under the IMF facility, with more expected soon. Barcola reaffirmed Togo’s commitment to sound economic governance aligned with its 2025 roadmap.
