PURC Raises Electricity and Water Tariffs

The PURC has announced new electricity and water tariff increases effective January 1, 2026. Electricity tariffs will go up by 9.86% for all customer categories.

The Commission says the rise is due to investment needs, fuel costs, inflation, and the cedi–dollar exchange rate. Quarterly tariff reviews will continue to adjust for changing external factors. Water tariffs will also increase by 15.92% over the 2026–2030 period. The adjustment is based on production costs, non-revenue water levels, and capital investment needs.

The MYTO now includes tariffs for mini-grids serving island and remote communities. Key factors influencing the new tariffs include gas price projections, system loss targets, inflation, and exchange rate assumptions.
