Fifty-eight percent of Ghanaians are happy with the direction of the country, according to a new IEA survey. The Institute of Economic Affairs linked the positive outlook to strong macroeconomic gains in 2025.
The cedi appreciated by about 32 percent against the US dollar between 2024 and 2025. Inflation also dropped sharply from 23.8 percent in 2024 to 5.4 percent in 2025. Fuel prices and the cost of some imported goods declined as economic pressures eased.
Public confidence was further boosted by lower debt levels and reduced lending rates. Despite the gains, 34 percent of respondents said they are unhappy with the country’s direction. The survey was conducted nationwide in December 2025 with responses from 1,022 people.
