Accra’s Mayor has raised concerns about drivers charging different fares on the same routes. He said some drivers take low fares in the morning but increase them in the evening. He called the practice unfair to commuters who rely on public transport daily. The warning was given at the launch of “Operation Disaster-Free Christmas” in Accra. The initiative aims to improve emergency response during the festive season.
The Mayor said any driver who ignores agreed fares will face legal action. He noted that offenders may be sent to the sanitation court for punishment. The Accra Metropolitan Assembly says the new measures will help ensure a safe and orderly Christmas.
