The Food System Resilience Program is helping cassava producers in Togo boost production. From August 26–29, seventy-five farmers, including twenty-five women, attended training in Atakpamé.
The workshop was organized under the Fresh Cassava Innovation Platform (PIMF). Experts taught good practices from seed selection to pest control. The event was led by ITRA scientist Dr. Elikem Segbefia with local platform leaders. Participants said the lessons corrected habits that had reduced their yields.
Cassava is seen as vital for both food security and rural income. Tuber output in Togo reached 2.5 million tonnes in 2024, up 5.5% from the year before.
