GES Requests BECE Corruption Documentary

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has asked for copies of JoyNews’s documentary Dark World of BECE. The film exposes widespread corruption during the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

WAEC’s Director of Public Affairs, John Kapi, confirmed the request on JoyNews’ PM Express. He explained that only GES has the authority to sanction teachers involved. WAEC can only bar them from future examination duties. The investigation showed supervisors, headteachers, and invigilators demanding bribes.

At some schools, candidates were forced to pay “tokens” and “offertory” fees. Public attention is now on how firmly GES will act against those implicated.
