A noise-making ban has been announced ahead of the 2025 La Homowo Festival.
The ban runs from August 11 to September 5, starting each day at 6:00 p.m. It aims to preserve the solemnity of the festival under the theme “Respect For All”. The ban covers La Township and nearby areas like Cantonments, Labone, and Madina. Churches, mosques, hotels, and other businesses are expected to strictly comply. Traditional penalties await those who violate the directive.
The Homowo Festival celebrates the end of famine and the gift of abundance. Authorities urge cooperation to honour culture while limiting daily disruptions.
