New Ferries to Ease Road Traffic

Ghana has acquired two passenger vessels for water transport services. The ferries will operate between Accra and Takoradi, and Ghana and Lagos. Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe announced the move on Asempa FM. The aim is to reduce pressure on the country’s busy road network. He said many private cars carry few passengers but add heavily to congestion.

Lack of reliable transport alternatives has pushed people to use private vehicles. The government plans to promote mass transport and create inner-city parking spaces. The ferry services are expected to start soon and improve mobility nationwide.
