Rand Weakens After Week of Gains

The South African rand slipped in early trade on Thursday after a week of gains, dragged down by an uptick in the dollar. The rand was trading at 19.15 to the dollar at 10:00 a.m. (0800 GMT), down 0.5% from its previous close. Analysts attribute the decline to a stronger U.S. dollar and global economic uncertainties.
