Thousands of young Ghanaians gathered at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra for the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise on Wednesday.
The massive crowd caused heavy traffic and congestion around the area. Many hopeful applicants were left stranded outside after officials said the stadium had reached full capacity. Security officers worked to control the crowd and maintain order. Inside, screening and verification continued for those who gained entry. The scene reflected the high level of interest in joining the military.
This is not the first time such recruitment has drawn huge numbers. The event highlights the growing unemployment challenge among Ghana’s youth.
