Togo Approves 97 Higher Education Institutions

The Togolese government has officially recognized 97 higher education institutions for the 2025–2026 academic year. The list was released by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research at the end of September.

Among them are four public institutions, including the University of Lomé and the University of Kara. The remaining 93 are private schools located in Lomé and other parts of the country. This marks an increase from 79 private institutions recognized at the end of 2024. The ministry says all approved schools meet national and international standards.

The publication helps guide students toward accredited institutions and encourages compliance across the sector. Minister Kanka-Malik Natchaba reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting students from unaccredited schools.
