Togo Showcases Reform Success at Compact with Africa Event

Togo has been recognized among Africa’s top reforming countries at the high-level Compact with Africa (CwA) meeting in Washington. Represented by Minister Sandra Ablamba Johnson, the country shared its progress in improving the business climate and promoting private sector growth.

The Compact with Africa initiative, led by the G20 and World Bank, encourages private investment through structural reforms. Togo, a member since 2018, remains on the select list of “reform champions” under the new CwA 2.0 phase. Johnson highlighted Togo’s strong performance, including its leap of 40 places in the World Bank’s Doing Business ranking and its improved CPIA score. Through a Reform Partnership with Germany, Togo focuses on job creation, agro-industry, and governance.

The private sector now contributes over 76% of GDP and nearly all national employment. The government plans to deepen reforms in energy, agriculture, and technology to sustain inclusive economic growth.
