Spare parts dealers at Abossey Okai in Accra have warned foreign nationals to vacate their shops. The traders said the spare parts business is legally reserved for Ghanaians.
They accused foreigners of taking over spaces meant for locals. One dealer compared Ghana to Nigeria, saying laws are strictly enforced there. The traders complained that leaders and associations have abandoned them. They said they feel like “orphans” because no authority protects their interests.
According to them, Ghanaians face harassment from tax officers while foreigners operate freely. One trader shared that GRA pressure forced him to close his shop for almost five years.
