The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Asari Efiong as its first Country Head in Côte d’Ivoire. She will be based in Abidjan and lead the Bank’s new presence in the country.
Côte d’Ivoire became an EBRD member and country of operation in 2025. Efiong will report to Heike Harmgart, Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa. She previously worked on donor partnerships, including support programmes for Ukraine. Her career also includes roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Credit Lyonnais, and Morgan Stanley.
Efiong holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos and an MBA from Bayes Business School in London. The EBRD, founded in 1991, has invested over €215 billion in 39 emerging economies.
