Egypt-Jordan Cable Enhances Regional Digital Infrastructure

Telecom Egypt and Jordan’s NaiTel have successfully completed the Coral Bridge subsea cable project, establishing the first direct digital connection between Egypt and Jordan in over two decades while significantly boosting regional connectivity capabilities.

The groundbreaking infrastructure links Telecom Egypt’s new Taba landing station to Aqaba Digital Hub’s Tier III carrier-neutral facility, featuring 48 fiber pairs with capacity exceeding 1 Petabit. The system reduces latency and operational costs for applications including cloud computing and artificial intelligence services.

Through integration with Telecom Egypt’s existing subsea ecosystem, Coral Bridge offers seamless connectivity across Asia, Europe, and Africa, positioning the cable as a strategic asset for regional digital transformation initiatives. The project enhances redundancy and recovery strategies for enterprises and hyperscalers hosted in Jordan.

“Coral Bridge represents more than infrastructure—it’s a strategic regional asset,” explained Eyad Abu Khorma, Founder and CEO of Aqaba Digital Hub. “Landing at ADH’s carrier-neutral facility in Jordan enhances regional market access and features one of MENA’s largest data centers.”

The collaboration creates vital opportunities for establishing robust data connectivity corridors across the Middle East and Europe. By leveraging NaiTel’s carrier-neutral ecosystem in Aqaba, the cable system will aggregate substantial regional traffic and channel it through Egypt’s diverse terrestrial routes to the Mediterranean Sea.

“The strategic proximity between Taba and Aqaba creates vital opportunities for data connectivity across the Middle East and Europe,” stated Mohamed Nasr, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt. “This critical infrastructure meets growing regional data demands while supporting data center expansion.”

The project represents sustainable cross-border cooperation and marks a significant step in regional digital infrastructure development. The cable system addresses increasing demand for high-performance connectivity solutions across the Middle East and North Africa region.

During the first six months of 2025, Telecom Egypt generated consolidated net profits totaling EGP 10.52 billion, representing year-on-year growth from EGP 6.51 billion, demonstrating strong financial performance supporting continued infrastructure investment.

The Coral Bridge cable enhances network resilience across the region while creating new opportunities for digital services expansion and economic development through improved connectivity infrastructure.
