Endeavour Mining plans to produce up to 200,000 ounces of gold annually from its new Lafigué mine in Côte d’Ivoire. The London-listed company officially began production this week, marking one of the country’s largest recent mining investments.
Lafigué, located in the Fetekro region, is expected to operate for more than 12 years. Endeavour says the mine will significantly boost local employment and community development. CEO Ian Cockerill noted that Côte d’Ivoire remains central to the company’s West African growth strategy. The project cost about $448 million to develop and began construction in 2022.
Early production results show strong ore grades and stable processing performance. Officials believe the mine’s success will enhance the nation’s gold output and attract further foreign investment.
