The Austrian delegation, led by the Vice Minister of Finance overseeing mining, cybersecurity, and defense research, met with Ethiopia’s State Minister for Finance, Semereta Sewasew. Austrian Ambassador Dr. Simone Knapp participated in the discussions, demonstrating Austria’s commitment to deepening African partnerships.
State Minister Semereta welcomed Austria’s technological solutions, emphasizing Ethiopia’s drive to modernize public finance systems and digitize government services. “The urgent need to boost revenue” makes Austria’s advanced solutions particularly relevant, especially considering International Monetary Fund guidance for fiscal reforms.
Austrian representatives presented comprehensive public finance and tax solutions through their AED agency’s “Best Practice Austria” initiative. The package includes an AI-based risk management system and a ready-to-deploy e-tax platform capable of implementation within twelve months, addressing Ethiopia’s immediate digitalization needs.
Vienna-based Focus Group demonstrated cybersecurity expertise in crypto fraud detection, training, and process development, illustrating Austria’s ability to enhance Ethiopia’s financial security infrastructure. These capabilities address growing concerns about digital financial crime and regulatory compliance.
Austria’s EPG company presented environmentally sustainable mining solutions for waste remediation and precious metal recovery, often through government partnerships.
