Minister Confirms Decline in Ghana’s Oil Sector

Ghana’s Energy and Green Transition Minister, John Jinapor, has confirmed a significant decline in the country’s oil sector. Speaking at a press briefing, he said production levels have dropped sharply in 2025.

The fall has been linked to reduced investment and delays in new exploration projects. According to the minister, this downturn is affecting national revenue and job creation. The government is, however, working on measures to revive the sector through policy reforms. Industry experts warn that without urgent action, Ghana may lose its competitive position in West Africa’s energy market.

The decline also threatens foreign exchange earnings needed for economic stability. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to attract investors and boost local participation in the oil industry.
