Ouattara Highlights Cocoa Challenges

President Alassane Ouattara spoke about the challenges in Côte d’Ivoire’s cocoa sector. He mentioned climate change, orchard diseases, and the issue of traceability.

Also, he stressed the need to protect plantations and invest in research. Training farmers and promoting resilient agriculture are also priorities. The country has adopted the African standard ARS 1000 for sustainable and traceable cocoa. This certification is expected to open new international markets.

Côte d’Ivoire produces about 45% of the world’s cocoa supply. The coffee-cocoa sector makes up 40% of exports and up to 20% of GDP, supporting millions of rural families.
