The Togolese Revenue Authority (OTR) has extended the 20% customs fee reduction for vehicles over five years old until 20 December 2025. The measure was initially set to end on 15 November 2025.
It applies to vehicles currently held up in customs and aims to help taxpayers clear their vehicles. The extension is expected to benefit a larger number of taxpayers, especially during the end-of-year period. The policy has been in effect since 1 September 2025 and targets congestion in vehicle fleets. OTR said the measure encourages the release of vehicles and facilitates new imports ahead of the holiday season.
Such reductions are regularly renewed at the end of the year, sometimes reaching up to 40%, as in 2021. Authorities described the measure as part of ongoing tax facilitation and support for taxpayers.
