Togo Fund Boosts Local Projects

Togo’s government is supporting municipalities through the Territorial Communities Support Fund (FACT). A monitoring mission found new classrooms, boreholes, market sheds, latrines, and electricity extensions in several towns.

These projects mainly benefited the Savanes, Kara, and Centrale regions. Local leaders say the works have improved living conditions, especially for schoolchildren. The mission also reviewed procurement rules to ensure transparency. It began on September 1 and will run until October 25, later covering Plateaux and Maritime.

FACT aims to close infrastructure gaps and promote local development. In 2024, it allocated 8.5 billion FCFA to municipalities for projects in education, health, roads, and culture.
