U.S. Lifts Tariffs on Ghanaian Cocoa

The United States has officially removed the 15% tariffs on Ghana’s cocoa and other farm products. The change took effect on November 13, 2025, through a new executive order by President Trump.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa confirmed the decision in a Facebook post. The exemptions now cover cocoa, cashew, avocado, banana, mango, and several other exports. Ghana expects a major revenue boost from the policy shift. Officials estimate about US$60 million in additional annual earnings from cocoa alone.

The earlier tariff hike had caused serious concern within Ghana’s agricultural sector. Both nations say they look forward to stronger, mutually beneficial relations.
