VAT Reforms Set for January 2026

The Ghana Revenue Authority says it is ready to begin the new VAT reforms on January 1, 2026. The rollout will take place only if Parliament approves the VAT Amendment Bill before Christmas.

Commissioner-General Anthony Sarpong says the GRA has prepared all systems for the transition. He noted that the reforms aim to simplify VAT rules and reduce the burden on businesses. Digital invoicing and other upgraded platforms are already in place to support the changes. The GRA has been working with the Finance Ministry and other stakeholders to avoid delays.

Public education will intensify once Parliament gives final approval. Mr. Sarpong says the goal is to ensure a smooth and easy transition for businesses and consumers.
