CJ Nominee Plans 24-Hour Court Operations

Chief Justice nominee Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has announced plans to introduce 24-hour court services in selected areas. Speaking before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on November 10, he said the move aims to improve access to justice and reduce litigation costs. He noted that delays in the judicial process have made legal proceedings more expensive. Many citizens, he added, cannot afford to seek justice due to limited resources. The proposed “night courts” would handle cases beyond normal hours to ease congestion.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie said this will complement the legal aid system. The reform is part of efforts to modernise the judiciary. It is also expected to ensure faster resolution of minor civil and criminal cases.
