New Transport and Maritime Ministers Take Office in Togo

Komlan Lokou Kadjé and Edem Kokou Tengue have officially assumed office as Minister of Transport and Deputy Minister of Maritime Economy. The handover ceremonies were held on January 26, 2026, in Lomé and were supervised by the Minister Secretary General of the Government, Stanislas Bamouni Baba.

Mr. Kadjé described the transport sector as central to economic and social development, highlighting its role in trade and national growth. He said improving rural roads and opening up isolated areas will remain a priority, with emphasis on effective use of public investments. The new minister stressed that infrastructure challenges require practical solutions, guided by transparency, efficiency, and accountability. In the maritime sector, Edem Kokou Tengue was formally installed, returning to a portfolio he previously managed between 2020 and 2024.

He described the maritime economy as vital to Togo’s economic growth and investor appeal. Mr. Tengue highlighted the country’s port sector as a key driver of international interest and economic expansion.
