President Alassane Ouattara has called for renewed dialogue between ECOWAS and the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
He made the appeal during recent discussions on regional stability and cooperation. The AES, made up of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, left ECOWAS earlier this year. Ouattara stressed that communication is vital to address shared security and economic challenges. He said unity in West Africa is key for lasting peace and development. Tensions have risen since the AES countries accused ECOWAS of interfering in their affairs.
The Ivorian leader believes constructive talks could ease mistrust. He urged all sides to put the region’s welfare above political differences.
