Togo Elected to UNESCO Heritage Committee

Togo has been chosen to join the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for 2025–2029. This is the country’s first time serving on the international heritage body.

Members help decide how the World Heritage Fund is used each year. They also take part in choosing new sites for the World Heritage List. Foreign Minister Robert Dussey said Togo hopes to represent Africa strongly. He added that the country will promote fairer representation on the heritage list.

The election comes as Togo increases efforts to protect its cultural sites. Koutammakou, already a UNESCO site, is one of the areas receiving special attention.
