Togo Joins IAEA Board

Togo has been elected to the Board of Governors of the IAEA for 2025–2027. The election took place at the Agency’s 69th General Conference in Vienna.

Togo will serve alongside countries like Niger, Portugal, and Saudi Arabia. The Board oversees budgets, programs, and global nuclear safety standards. At home, Togo created CEAT in January 2025 to promote nuclear projects. It also signed a deal with Nano Nuclear Energy for electricity micro-reactors.

Challenges include weak laws, limited expertise, and funding gaps. By joining the IAEA Board, Togo seeks investment, partnerships, and influence.
