Côte d’Ivoire Wins First U16 AfroBasket Title

Côte d’Ivoire made history by winning the FIBA U16 AfroBasket Men’s Championship for the first time. The young Elephants defeated Cameroon in the final held in Kigali, Rwanda.

Their victory also secured them a place at the 2026 FIBA U17 World Cup. Key player Irené Raphael Ouédraogo impressed with 20 rebounds and 10 points. Minty Jean-Philippe Dylan Oka led the scoring with 18 points for Côte d’Ivoire. The team’s journey included a stunning win over basketball giants Egypt.

This marks a new era for Ivorian basketball at the youth level. Fans back home celebrated the triumph as a proud national achievement.
