Audrey Diama and Eve Ndah, two rising stars from Côte d’Ivoire, made a lasting impression as part of their country’s three-woman team, led by Captain Sahiri Oro.
Their spirited showing against the Benin Republic drew loud applause from the fans at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, especially the remarkable comeback by 12-year-old Ndah.
Despite Côte d’Ivoire falling 1-3 to Benin Republic, Ndah delivered the team’s only win dramatically. After dropping the first two games 3-11 and 5-11 to Madinath Yessoufou, the young prodigy rallied with fierce determination to take the next three games 16-14, 11-9, 11-8, sealing a 3-2 victory that brought the crowd to its feet.
