The Ivorian women’s basketball team started Afrobasket 2025 with a strong win. They defeated Egypt 75–63 on Saturday, July 26, at the Palais des Sports in Treichville.
Led by coach Stéphane Leite, the Elephants took control early, ending the first quarter 21–12. The team stayed focused in the second quarter, despite pressure from Egypt’s long-range shooters. After halftime, Côte d’Ivoire increased their lead with strong defense and fast-paced offense. By the end of the third quarter, they were up by 15 points.
Egypt tried to fight back in the final quarter, but the Ivorians stayed calm and in control. The win boosts Ivory Coast’s confidence as they aim for a strong tournament run.
