Nigeria’s Junior D’Tigress ended her debut campaign at the 2025 FIBA U-19 Women’s Basketball World Cup in Brno, Czechia, on a negative note following a 96-71 defeat to China in their final classification round game on Sunday, ending the tournament in 12th place.
Both teams had met on the opening day of the competition during the round-robin phase, with Nigeria going on to register a 93-88 victory over the Asian powerhouse. However, the second meeting between both sides saw the Chinese avenge the defeat they suffered at the hands of the West Africans a week ago.
Nigeria played a total of seven games at the FIBA U-19 Women’s Basketball World Cup in Brno, Czechia, winning two and losing five matches.
Their two victories came against China and Argentina in the round-robin phase and the classification rounds, respectively, while they lost to Canada and Portugal in the group stages, plus a defeat to Hungary in the round of 16 and further losses to Korea Republic and China in the classification rounds.
