Nigeria’s qualified U15 and U19 boys’ table tennis teams have been denied visas to compete at the ITTF World Youth Championships in Romania.
The squad, led by West African champion Kuti Matthew, earned their places by winning their categories at the qualifying event in Lagos. Despite their on-court success, their dreams have been shattered by the visa refusal. Their hard-won championship slots have now been reallocated to Egypt and Tunisia, leaving the Nigerian athletes who “gave everything” without a chance to compete on the world stage.
