Nigeria’s Sade Olatoye has won the silver medal in the women’s Hammer Throw at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, following a dramatic conclusion to the competition. Olatoye led for most part of the event, posting a best throw of 63.34m, but was overtaken in the fifth round by Algeria’s Tatar Zhara, who secured the gold medal with a throw of 63.55m.
The victory was sealed when Olatoye fouled her final two attempts, unable to reclaim the lead. The bronze medal was awarded to Uzbekistan’s Zarinakhon Nosirjonova, who recorded a best effort of 61.69m to complete the podium.
