Togo Adopts Social Protection Policy

Togo’s government has adopted a National Social Protection Policy to fight poverty. The decision was taken by the Council of Ministers on December 17, 2025.

The policy targets vulnerable groups, especially in rural areas. It aims to protect people from risks like illness, unemployment, old age, and disasters. The plan guarantees minimum income security and better access to basic services. It will strengthen coordination across health, education, nutrition, and child protection sectors.

Informal workers, women, and young people are key beneficiaries. The policy is expected to boost social cohesion and support inclusive development.
