President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr David Kofi Mawuvi Wuaku as Administrator of the Ghana Sports Fund. Dr Wuaku brings over 30 years of banking and financial management experience to the role.
The Sports Fund aims to fix long-standing funding challenges in Ghana’s sports sector. It will provide a coordinated and professionally managed system for sports financing. Dr Wuaku has pledged strong transparency, accountability, and regular public reporting. The Fund will support grassroots sports, elite athletes, infrastructure, and athlete welfare.
Funding sources include government allocations, betting taxes, gate proceeds, and sponsorships. The appointment comes as Parliament considers the Ghana Sports Fund Bill, 2025.
