Canal+ Togo has been authorized to take control of Canalbox, the country’s leading fiber optic internet provider. The decision was approved at the Council of Ministers meeting on December 31, 2025.
Canalbox was previously operated by GVA under the Vivendi Africa Group. The transfer follows Vivendi’s restructuring plan, which split the group into independent entities in late 2024. Authorities say subscribers will see no immediate changes in services, prices, or connection quality. A ministerial decree is expected soon to formally complete the license transfer.
The move supports Togo’s ambition to become a regional digital hub, backed by Canal+’s wider African presence. Canalbox currently holds about 61% of the fiber optic market in Togo, ahead of Yas Togo.
