Richie Mensah Joins Grammy Voting Academy

Ghanaian music executive Richie Mensah has been appointed a voting member of the Recording Academy, organisers of the Grammy Awards. He shared the news on Facebook, thanking the Academy for the honour.

Many Ghanaians have celebrated the achievement as a big win for the country’s music industry. Richie is the CEO of Lynx Entertainment, which has produced stars like Kuami Eugene, KiDi, MzVee, and DopeNation. Music consultant Dentaa Amoateng recently said Ghana needs more members in the Academy to boost its Grammy chances. She explained that more African voters would help protect the African Music Performance category from outside influence.

Dentaa also plans to help invite more Ghanaians to join the Academy. The Recording Academy currently has over 16,000 members, including more than 13,000 with voting rights.
