Sudan Faces Vaccination Crisis Amid War

Routine immunization in Sudan has collapsed, with vaccination rates dropping from over 90% to just 48% amid the ongoing civil war. The country now has over 830,000 “zero-dose” children—those who have received no vaccines—raising fears of deadly outbreaks like measles and cholera.

Health agencies warn that malnutrition and trauma are worsening health outcomes, especially in conflict zones like Darfur and Kordofan. Aid access remains blocked in RSF-controlled areas, worsening the humanitarian catastrophe.
