Burkinabe cyberactivist Alino Faso was found dead in custody in Abidjan. His real name was Traoré Alain Christophe. He had been detained since January 2025 on national security charges.
Authorities accused him of espionage, conspiracy, and spreading false news.His body was discovered on July 24 at the Gendarmerie Academy. Officials said he tried to cut his wrists before hanging himself.
A forensic doctor confirmed the cause of death as suicide. The public prosecutor has launched an official investigation.
