Vice President Urges Policy-Driven Politics in Africa

Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has urged African leaders to focus on policies, not just elections.

Opening the African Political Parties Summit 2025 in Accra, she said citizens need politics that delivers jobs, food, and quality services. She called for cooperation and tolerance among political rivals to ensure peace and development. The Vice President stressed that national projects should outlast political careers. She urged leaders to respect long-term development plans across different governments. Citing AfCFTA as a success, she said Africa must unite in vision despite differences. She warned that election instability threatens people’s livelihoods.

The summit is discussing the African Political Parties Initiative to promote cooperation, resolve disputes, and tackle regional challenges.
