Togo has launched the operational phase of the Urban Centers Electricity Network Extension Project (PERECUT) in the Central region.
The project will cover Blitta, Pagala-Gare, Sotouboua, Adjengré, Tchamba, Kaboli, Sokodé, and Djarkpanga. It includes the construction of 290 km of low voltage lines and 21 km of medium voltage lines. A total of 36 transformer stations will also be installed. The plan adds new customer connections, prepayment meters, and public street lighting. Officials say the goal is to extend electricity to new suburban neighborhoods.
Nationwide, PERECUT will build over 1,600 km of low voltage network and 200 km of medium voltage lines. The project, costing 46 billion FCFA, is funded by the EU, AFD, and KfW to support universal access by 2030.
