Parliament Resumes for Final 2025 Session

Parliament resumes sittings today, October 21, 2025, for the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament. This final session of the legislative year is expected to be busy.

The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, will present the 2026 Budget in mid-November. Two new NDC MPs, Bernard Bediako Baidoo of Akwatia and Professor Alidu Seidu of Tamale Central, will be sworn in. The Appointments Committee will vet Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie for the position of Chief Justice. Government plans to introduce a law to repeal L.I. 2462, which allows mining in forest reserves.

The move is part of efforts to strengthen the fight against illegal mining. MPs will also consider several national issues, bills, and policy proposals from ministries and agencies.
