ECOWAS and the African Union have reaffirmed their support for Côte d’Ivoire’s democratic process after the October 25 presidential election. In a joint statement, they praised the peaceful and calm atmosphere during voting across the country.
Both organizations thanked Ivorian citizens for showing maturity and civic responsibility. They also commended the electoral commission and security forces for ensuring order and transparency. ECOWAS and the AU urged all political parties to remain calm and use legal means to resolve any disputes. They called on candidates to respect the official results once announced.
The two groups promised to keep supporting Côte d’Ivoire’s democratic institutions. They said peace, dialogue, and unity are key to the country’s progress.
