Togo Strengthens Flood Prevention Measures

Togo is stepping up efforts to prevent flooding in its southern Maritime region. The National Civil Protection Agency and the Togolese Red Cross held drills in more than 20 communities.

These exercises tested early warning systems and how quickly local teams could respond. They also helped raise public awareness about flood safety and emergency actions. Officials say the training is vital as heavy rains and floods are becoming more frequent. Projects like RAINE and WACA Togo are supplying modern equipment to improve flood control.

The government’s Flood Preparedness and Response Plan also supports training and logistics nationwide. Together, these actions aim to strengthen community readiness and protect vulnerable areas from disasters.
