SES and AMN Expand Rural Mobile Connectivity in Côte d’Ivoire

Satellite operator SES and its partner Africa Mobile Networks (AMN) have completed the upgrade of more than 200 telecom sites in rural Côte d’Ivoire. The project aims to extend mobile network coverage to about 500,000 residents in underserved areas.

Using SES’s high-performance satellite technology, the upgraded sites now deliver faster and more reliable voice and data services. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to close the digital divide across West Africa. Improved connectivity is expected to boost local businesses, education, and healthcare access. AMN noted that the upgrades also reduce operational costs through more efficient energy use.

The partnership between SES and AMN supports Côte d’Ivoire’s national digital inclusion strategy. Overall, the project marks a major step toward universal mobile access for remote communities.
