An aviation YouTuber has accused Air Côte d’Ivoire of running a “business-class downgrade scam” on its new Paris–Abidjan route. The influencer claimed he paid for business class but was placed in economy without a refund or explanation.
His video went viral, drawing criticism from travelers and social media users across West Africa. Air Côte d’Ivoire and the government dismissed the allegation, saying the mix-up resulted from a travel agency error. Officials insisted the airline followed proper procedures and did not engage in fraudulent conduct. The company has invited the YouTuber to discuss the incident privately to resolve the misunderstanding.
Aviation authorities said the case highlights the need for better communication between airlines and agents. Despite the controversy, Air Côte d’Ivoire says it remains committed to maintaining customer trust and service quality.
