Topics include trade, agriculture, energy, training, and food security. They will also talk about regional security, climate change, and development goals. Russia has been increasing its involvement in Africa in recent years. Many Togolese students now receive scholarships to study in Russia.
The two countries also have a military cooperation agreement for joint exercises and training. The meeting is expected to explore new ways for Togo and Russia to work together.
